The Gipuzkoa Provincial Council, in collaboration with twelve local councils, has launched an initiative to celebrate the Real Sociedad's Copa del Rey final. Fan zones will be set up in various towns, enabling residents to watch the match together in a festive and accessible environment within their own municipalities.
In addition to Donostia, twelve other fan zones will be distributed across Gipuzkoa, featuring giant screens for the live broadcast of the match. This measure, as explained by the Provincial Council, aims to ensure that nearly half of the Gipuzkoan population can support the team without needing to travel outside their locality, thereby promoting a collective and local celebration.
Nearly half of the Gipuzkoan population will have the opportunity to support the team without needing to travel outside their locality, thus promoting a collective and local celebration.
The towns that will host these spaces include Donostia, Zumarraga, Errenteria, Tolosa, Zarautz, Lasarte-Oria, Zumaia, Hondarribia, Eibar, Elgoibar, Legazpi, Azkoitia, and Urretxu. In many cases, activities will take place in central squares, with covered alternatives planned in case of rain.
Beyond the match broadcast, the fan zones will offer an extensive pre-game program to energize the day. From morning until midnight, activities such as inflatables, face-painting workshops for children, DJ music, and txaranga performances will create a festive and family-friendly atmosphere before, during, and after the match. The final can be followed live between 9:00 PM and 11:00 PM, concluding with the celebration's closing.
The initiative also includes strengthening public transport to facilitate travel between municipalities, promoting a sustainable and accessible celebration model. Institutions emphasize the social value of sport as an element of cohesion, as well as the pride for the territory that Real Sociedad is playing in another final.
