This initiative, announced on April 14, aims to unite the fans from Gipuzkoa at a crucial moment for the txuri-urdin team. Goizane Álvarez, the Deputy of Culture, emphasized that “this initiative perfectly reflects what we are as a territory: a Gipuzkoa that unites to accompany Real Sociedad in an exciting and special moment.”
The towns that will feature giant screens include Zumarraga, Tolosa, Zarautz, Lasarte-Oria, Zumaia, Hondarribia, Eibar, Elgoibar, Legazpi, Azkoitia, and Urretxu. According to Álvarez, “nearly half of the population of Gipuzkoa will have a fan zone in their own town, and the rest will benefit from reinforced public transport to be able to attend and experience this day comfortably, safely, affordably, and sustainably.”
The institutional support was showcased at an event held at the Anoeta stadium, attended by several provincial deputies, mayors, and councilors from the involved municipalities, as well as the club's vice-president, Joseba Ibarburu, and the mascot Txurdin. The Provincial Council highlighted the “social and emotional value of sport as an element of cohesion” and the pride of a team from the territory returning to a final.
“"Wherever we are, we have to celebrate the match together on Saturday."
The General Deputy of Gipuzkoa, Eider Mendoza, who will represent the Provincial Council in Seville, called for unity among the fans. Mendoza reminded that, in a global context of “uncertainty” and “fear,” “spaces for coexistence, spaces to celebrate, to enjoy the colors of Real Sociedad” are necessary. Furthermore, she stressed the importance of values such as “humility, ambition, teamwork,” which she considers to be “of all Gipuzkoans.”
Finally, the General Deputy expressed her optimism for the final. “Not only do we have enthusiasm, but we also have confidence that Real will give its best to win that match on Saturday,” she concluded, sending encouragement to the players and all txuri-urdin fans.
