The Donostia City Council will distribute free flowers and plants this week, aiming to give a second life to species removed from the city's parks and gardens before new spring plantings.
This initiative, a regular practice in recent years, makes plants from the city's green areas available to the public. These species, previously destined for composting, will now be replaced by others more suitable for spring and summer.
This year, due to damage sustained during last week's celebrations, the number of plants to be distributed will be significantly lower, approximately 20,000 units. The plants will be delivered in biodegradable vegetable fiber containers and 100% recyclable bags.
The distribution will take place on Tuesday, April 28, in Okendo Plaza; on Wednesday, April 29, on the Ondarreta promenade; and on Thursday, April 30, in Pío XII Plaza. The schedule will be from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, or until supplies run out.
Separately, the council of deputies of the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council met this week in Lasarte-Oria, as part of the itinerant sessions initiated in this legislature. The goal is to gain firsthand knowledge of the needs, challenges, and projects of the territory's municipalities and to bring institutional activity closer to the public.
“
"The objective is to know and share the projects and strategies of the territory and the municipality, as well as to gather the concerns and contributions of the citizens."
The provincial deputies held their usual weekly meeting at the Lasarte-Oria City Hall, approving various measures and decisions related to the entire territory. Prior to the council meeting, the general deputy and the mayor of Lasarte-Oria held a working meeting to learn about the main challenges and projects being developed in the city.
“
"We are working openly throughout Gipuzkoa, meeting with as many municipalities, neighborhoods, companies, and agents as possible. Meetings like today's allow us to advance in collaboration with the city council, deepening the projects we share."
