In a joint press conference held this afternoon in Gipuzkoa Plaza, the Donostia City Council, the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council, and Real Sociedad announced that all preparations are complete for fans to enjoy the Copa del Rey final, which Real Sociedad will play on April 18 in Seville, with “excitement and in community”. The main event will be centered in the Alderdi Eder area, complemented by other zones and screens distributed throughout the province.
Details were presented by Eider Mendoza, General Deputy of Gipuzkoa; Jon Insausti, Mayor of Donostia; and Jokin Aperribai, President of Real Sociedad. Also participating in the presentation were Anton Arriola, President of Kutxabank, and Joseba Urkiola, Sports Director of EITB.
“"Real Sociedad represents the main values that we Gipuzkoans share: humility, teamwork, youth academy, respect for colors, solidarity, community."
Insausti emphasized that they wanted to “give shape to the feeling that the txuri-urdin colors evoke in us”. For this purpose, a meeting point for all Real Sociedad fans has been organized in Alderdi Eder, which will be “the main square on Saturday, and we will bring the emotion that will be experienced in Seville there”. Two giant screens will be installed on the facade of the Donostia City Hall, the two largest in Euskadi, according to Insausti.
The celebration will not be limited to the final match; the aim is to extend the festivities to all citizens, from the youngest to the oldest. The area around the Donostia City Hall will function as an extension of the La Cartuja fan zone, from 3:00 PM to 1:00 AM. In addition to watching the final on the giant screens, connections will be made with the Seville fan zone.
The event promises many surprises and will feature performances by Eñaut Elorrieta, Go!azen, Xabi Solano, Gozategi, and DJ Jonkassen. The presenters will be Iban Garcia, Gabriela Uriarte, Miren Nogales, and Alex Padilla. Younger fans will also have their own space in the Portu area, from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with inflatables, games, and the Makusi area. There will also be catering services with food and drink stalls, and it has been announced that payment in the Alderdi Eder fan zone will only be possible via contactless.
