The average pension in Gipuzkoa has reached 1,652 euros as of June. This increase is largely attributed to retirement and permanent disability pensions, which are not only the most numerous in the territory but also boast the highest amounts. Furthermore, during this month, Social Security disbursed one of the two annual extra pension payments, averaging around 1,300 euros.
According to June's data, Gipuzkoa once again ranks among the Spanish territories with the highest pension provisions. This is linked to its strong industrial base, a sector that typically offers higher salaries and longer professional careers, resulting in more substantial pensions.
Gipuzkoa recorded a total of 198,076 pensions this month, marking a 0.8% increase compared to the same month last year. The monetary amount has risen more significantly, by 4.2%, outpacing the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
There are notable differences between pension types, with retirement and permanent disability pensions being the highest. Retirement pensions are the most common, totaling 136,723 in Gipuzkoa with an average of 1,854 euros. The supplementary payments for these amount to 136,723, with an average salary of 1,469 euros.
Permanent disability pensions, intended for individuals unable to work, amount to 13,018, with an average allocation of 1,625 euros. Additionally, Social Security registered 4,836 orphan pensions and 520 survivor pensions in Gipuzkoa in June, for individuals who were dependent on a deceased family member.
