The Astigarraga Town Council approved the dossiers for two major projects during its March plenary session, including the renovation of the sports center and the second phase of urbanization in the Zarkumendegi area, aimed at improving municipal infrastructure.

During the March plenary session of the Astigarraga Town Council, held last Tuesday, several important issues were addressed. Among them, the dossiers for two significant construction projects advanced, receiving the approval of the municipal corporation.
Firstly, the contract for the renovation and expansion of the sports center was awarded to Construcciones Urdinberri SL, with a budget of 8,224,568.32 euros (including VAT). Concurrently, the technical direction of the works was granted to XLARK, for 160,975.29 euros (excluding VAT). Following these awards, the Council will proceed with signing contracts with both companies, and construction is expected to commence before summer.
Secondly, the plenary session also approved the modification of the second phase of the urbanization works in the Zarkumendegi area. This project includes, among other actions, a comprehensive reorganization of the car park next to the football field, creating 100 new parking spaces, along with a bus station and a sidewalk. Additionally, the green area between the sidewalk and the football field will be adapted. The base bidding budget for this project is 747,804.39 euros, and its execution will be undertaken by Construcciones Moyua.
Furthermore, several changes to the municipal street naming system were approved. The INE had informed the Council that areas with generic names could not exceed five characters. Consequently, and with the aim of standardizing the street names, four areas previously designated with the generic terms 'enparantza' or 'plazatxoa' have been renamed 'plaza': Foru plaza, Errekatxo plaza, Norberto Almandoz plaza, and Ergobia plaza.
Regarding the bus service, four motions were discussed during the plenary session, with two of them being approved. A proposal to replant and relocate trees, hedges, and shrubs in the garden area before the start of works to build a living roof for the market in Norberto Almandoz plaza was not approved. Of the other three motions concerning the bus service, those presented by EH Bildu and the MUGItu Astigarraga platform received the necessary support, with abstentions from PSE-EE and EAJ, respectively.
