The Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa has announced that the Euskal Herriko Itzulia will lead to various traffic disruptions on the AP-8, AP-1, and AP-636 motorways, primarily affecting the Gipuzkoan towns of Eibar, Antzuola, Bergara, and Elgoibar, on Friday, April 10, and Saturday, April 11.
This Friday, April 10, the fifth stage of the Itzulia will take place, starting and finishing in Eibar. The race will pass through roads in the Debabarrena and Urola Kosta areas, as well as some roads in Bizkaia. Consequently, traffic will be affected on the AP-8 in Eibar, Elgoibar, and Zestoa.
In Eibar, the exit towards Behobia will be completely closed between 12:30 and 13:30, and again from 15:05 to 17:45. For the exit towards Bilbao, there will be signage with marshals, and the exit may be closed at certain times. In Elgoibar, the exit towards Behobia will be fully closed between 12:40 and 15:55, with similar measures for the Bilbao direction. In Zestoa, between 14:05 and 14:35, both directions will have signage and marshals, potentially causing traffic jams as exits may close.
On Saturday, April 11, the final stage of the Itzulia will be held between Antzuola and Bergara. The route will traverse Gipuzkoan roads, passing through various towns in Debagoiena and Debabarrena. This will impact the AP-636 and AP-1 motorways in Antzuola, Bergara, and Arrasate, as well as the AP-8 in Elgoibar.
On the AP-636 in Antzuola, the exit in both directions will be closed between 13:30 and 14:15. On the AP-1 in Bergara, the Bergara Norte exit will be completely closed from 14:15 to 17:20. In Arrasate, between 14:00 and 15:00, there will be signage with marshals, and exits may be closed. Finally, on the AP-8 in Elgoibar, the exit towards Behobia will be closed between 14:55 and 17:00, with marshals present for the Bilbao direction.
