The decisive phases of the Interpueblos championships have reached the frontons, and last Sunday, the main hand-pelota doubles title for Álava was at stake. The grand final took place in Amurrio, on the same day the town was celebrating the Araba Euskaraz festival. Legutio emerged victorious, beating the local team 2-1. This triumph allowed the players from Legutio to end a period without titles that had lasted since 2009, much to the delight of numerous fans, friends, and family.
The event did not start well for the eventual champions. In the cadet category, Amurrio's Diaz and Gaviña proved far superior to Lekuona and Osoro, winning 22-8. This setback meant that Legutio had to win the youth category match. This encounter provided significant excitement: with the local pair Villa and Kepa Arauzo leading, Eñaut Moto kept the match alive and played a crucial role. Although his partner Beitia showed some early nerves, thanks to Moto's guidance and tireless effort, Legutio secured the point with a 19-22 scoreline.
Everything was to be decided in the senior category match. Amurrio's Eneko Gonzaléz and Aitor Arauzo aimed to make the game difficult and tough, but they faced the currently in-form pairing of Asier del Campo and Markel Arriolabengoa. The Legutio duo demonstrated clear dominance throughout the match, sealing the championship with a final score of 14-22.
