Legutio, in Alava, hosted a Spanish Cycling Cup event for the first time, where Julieta Benedetti, Lidia Castro, and Noa Vega achieved victories in their categories during an exciting day of competition.

Argentine cyclist Julieta Benedetti secured a victory this Saturday in Legutio at the Spanish Cycling Cup event. The Toyota Valencia rider outpaced Maite Urteaga in the final meters, after they completed a significant portion of the 90-kilometer race together in the U23 and elite categories. Both were part of a six-rider breakaway that formed early in the race, and the cyclist from Mendoza, along with the one from Zumaia, had enough strength to contest the win head-to-head.
Benedetti, who had not yet claimed a victory this season, now leads the overall standings of the tournament with three races remaining. The top three riders who were ahead of her in the general classification did not participate in this event. Alba Codony completed the podium, while Olatz Camino was the first rider from Alava to cross the finish line, in fourteenth place, nearly nine minutes behind the winner.
In the junior category, the win went to Lidia Castro, who a couple of weeks prior had been crowned Spanish champion in the gravel discipline. The cyclist from Valladolid is a prominent figure in her category and has consistently demonstrated her class, having already secured another victory this season in the second stage of the Vuelta a Extremadura. In Legutio, she comfortably surpassed Naia Torrent, with Lucie Elizalde finishing third, more than a minute behind.
The cadet race was more uneven. Valeria Almena and Gisela Herrero gained a small advantage early in the climb to Zubizabal, though seventeen other competitors soon joined them. None of these riders were from the Alava team RPK-Udapa, leaving them out of contention for the top spots in one of their home races. On the podium, Noa Vega, the current leader of the Spanish Cup, dominated the competition, joined by Laura Pérez and Vega Iglesias. This marks the third victory in the tournament for the Baqué team member, who is now close to securing the leader's yellow jersey.
