The Provincial Council of Álava has invested over €500,000 in the municipalities of Zuia, Zigoitia, and Izarra to enhance sports facilities, leisure areas, and public spaces for residents. This funding was provided through the Foral Plan for Works and Services (PFOS) and the Minor Works and Neighborly Relations program.
Laura Pérez Borinaga, the Provincial Deputy for Territorial Balance and Planning, visited the Palatu sports center in Zuia following its renovation and expansion, as well as the work on the outdoor sports courts' roof, as reported by the provincial entity. The project had a tender budget of five million euros and a subsidizable budget of 2.76 million euros, with the Provincial Council contributing €430,000 through the PFOS 2020 Plan.
“"This aid represents significant support for Zuia and for the improvement of sports facilities heavily used by the public."
Pérez Borinaga emphasized that "these types of infrastructures require substantial investments, and provincial funding constitutes relevant assistance to advance a strategic project for the municipality".
Subsequently, the deputy visited Zigoitia, where the Council has financed improvements to the municipal pool's green area with €22,750 through the Minor Works program, including the installation of new urban furniture.
Finally, in Izarra, she reviewed the planned project for the Ostuño children's park, which aims to renovate the space by installing new play equipment, furniture, and environmental conditioning elements to offer families a more comfortable, safe, and attractive leisure area.
Both major investments and smaller-scale actions directly contribute to improving the quality of public spaces and the daily lives of residents.
The provincial official stated that "territorial balance is built with strategic projects, but also with essential small improvements that help maintain and enhance services in all municipalities and localities of Álava".
