Caring for a dependent person can directly impact the health and well-being of those who assume this responsibility, often manifesting as a feeling of loneliness. This subjective and unpleasant sensation arises when interpersonal relationships are perceived as insufficient, both in quantity and quality.
In Euskadi, according to the latest report from the State Observatory of Unwanted Loneliness, 14.5% of the adult population reports feeling lonely, and four out of ten have experienced this sensation at some point in their lives. To address this reality, nurses and professors from the Faculty of Medicine and Nursing at the University of the Basque Country will offer a talk-colloquium tomorrow, April 21st, at 6:30 PM, titled 'Keys to prevent loneliness and improve the health of caregivers' at the Iurreta municipal library.
During the session, the specialists will analyze the current situation and present various strategies proven effective in improving quality of life and reducing feelings of loneliness, including individualized assessment, participation in support groups, and community reinforcement. The event will also be available via streaming.
