Maialen Chourraut qualified for the final with the eighth-best time in the semifinals, and in the final, she executed a clean and fast run to secure the bronze medal with a time of 83.85.
Only Slovenia's Eva Hocevar (81.61) and Australia's Jessica Fox (81.74) finished ahead of the athlete from Lasarte-Oria.
In the kayak cross discipline, however, the athlete from Lasarte-Oria was eliminated during the qualifying rounds.
“"We have gone step by step. In the semifinals, I struggled with a 3-4 maneuver, and in the final as well. But I fought until the end. The Tacen channel is difficult, requiring caution, and I am happy with what I have achieved."
Chourraut will have no rest, as her next competition will take place from the 5th to the 7th of this month in Prague (Czech Republic).
This medal in Tacen is not the first one the athlete from Lasarte-Oria has won this year. On the 17th, the Spanish Kayak Cross Championship was held in Pau (France), where she also emerged victorious.
In April and May, Chourraut participated in the Spanish Cup events for both slalom and kayak cross, achieving top positions in both disciplines, in Pau as well as in the rounds held in La Seu D'Urgell.
