The Durango City Council has initiated a tender process for the renovation of the Plateruena cultural and musical center, aiming to enhance its facilities and role in the community.

The Durango City Council has opened a new tender process for the drafting of the execution project, site supervision, and health and safety coordination services for the renovation of the emblematic Plateruena Musika Aterpea building. This initiative aims to solidify the venue as a reference center for culture and music, offering a modern, safe, and accessible space for both citizens and artists involved in its activities.
The building boasts a history reflecting the evolution of Durango. Originally constructed in 1884 as a municipal slaughterhouse, it was refurbished in 2000 into a cultural center. Since 2003, it has hosted hospitality services and cultural events, currently managed by Astarloa Kulturgintza. Its trajectory exemplifies how a historic building can adapt to the social and cultural needs of the community.
The property spans 1,186 square meters, distributed across a basement, ground floor, mezzanine, and first floor, featuring useful spaces for exhibitions, workshops, and storage, allowing for versatile use in various events. The renovation seeks to restore and optimize the musical exhibition hall, adapting its capacity based on event type and incorporating auxiliary spaces for training, music creation, presentations, and forums. Additionally, a hospitality area with a kitchen and bar will be established on the ground floor. The intervention will be carried out in phases, prioritizing the recovery of existing structures and resource optimization.
The contract is organized into two lots. The first covers the project drafting and site supervision, ensuring planning, quality control, and regulatory oversight. The second focuses on health and safety coordination, guaranteeing the protection of all personnel working on the site and compliance with preventive measures. Both lots will be developed with efficiency, sustainability, accessibility, and inclusion criteria.
The contract budget is 82,644 euros. Interested companies can submit their offers or participation requests until June 19 through the contracting profile of the Durango City Council. The final project is expected to be ready by the end of this year, with site direction and supervision operational for commencement in early 2027.
