Organized by Bizkaiko Txakolina JDB and the Urkiola Rural Development Association, the festival arrives in Durangaldea this year after visiting Bakio, Urdaibai, Txorierri, Enkarterri, and Gorbeialdea in previous editions. The program will unfold in various locations across Amorebieta-Etxano, Elorrio, and Durango.
In Amorebieta-Etxano, the Etxanojauregi vineyard will host two of the four experiences this edition. On Friday, September 11th, from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM, Mahasti Komedia (Vineyard Comedy) will take place. María Cruickshank will perform a stand-up routine, humorously addressing social habits and the pressures faced by women. The experience will include a tasting of four txakolis, Idiazabal cheese, and Etxerriaga talo.
The following day, Saturday, September 12th, from 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM, Mahasti Musika (Vineyard Music) will be held, a proposal combining live music at sunset with txakoli. Aiora & Piti (from Zea Mays) and Arima Soul will perform. The ticket also includes the opportunity to taste four txakolis, talo, and Idiazabal cheese.
The program will be complemented by two other experiences in the region. On Saturday morning, Mahasti Yoga will take place at Solatsu Telleria in Elorrio, led by Miren Mentxaka from IZAKI Yoga, along with a space visit and a gastronomic offering. On Sunday the 13th, it will be the turn of Mahasti Gourmet – Flavors and History of Durango, starting with a guided tour through Durango and concluding at the Durangoko Azoka with a txakoli tasting and local gastronomic proposals.
Mahasti Artean is celebrated coinciding with the end of summer and the beginning of the grape harvest. In this seventh edition, Amorebieta-Etxano and its surroundings will have special prominence, within a program aiming to bring txakoli culture closer to new audiences while highlighting the unique spaces of Durangaldea.
