The Amorebieta-Etxano City Council has announced a new edition of the GUROT Euskal Tribiala competition, featuring a significant innovation this year: for the first time, it will include a category aimed at individuals aged 16 and over. This new proposal seeks to broaden adult participation, offering them the chance to engage in a challenge focused on Basque language knowledge, fun, and usage.
The primary goal of the competition is to bring the Basque language closer to the public through play. It aims to create a space where participants can test their knowledge while having a good time and learning. The challenge involves answering questions in Basque on various topics, with this year's focus on subjects related to both the immediate environment and global issues.
Consequently, this initiative is not merely a competition but also a participatory experience for enjoying the language. No expertise is required to join; a willingness to play, test one's knowledge, and have fun in Basque are all that's needed.
This new category is open to individuals aged 16 and over who live or study in Amorebieta-Etxano. Prior to the official start of the competition, there will be a practice period allowing participants to familiarize themselves with the dynamics.
The main challenge will take place from November 9th to December 13th. During these weeks, participants will face different questions and demonstrate their knowledge on various subjects, always through the Basque language.
Furthermore, two gift vouchers will be raffled among all participants. Each voucher includes a two-night stay for two people, with breakfast, at a Basque Country rural tourism accommodation.
