The Geurea RT team, comprised of players from Arrasate Rugby Taldea, will compete against Durango on Saturday afternoon at the Larrea sports center in Zornotza, seeking to solidify their second position in the Women's Basque League.

This weekend marks the penultimate round of the Women's Basque League qualification phase, with Geurea RT playing at home, specifically at the Larrea sports center in Zornotza. The combined team, featuring players from Arrasate Rugby Taldea along with Urgozo and Elorrio, will face Durango on Saturday afternoon, starting at 4:30 PM, with the goal of securing their current second place.
Having won 10 out of 14 matches played so far, the team has accumulated 49 points, placing them 13 points behind league leaders Gaztedi. Closely following are La Unica and Gipuzkoa Sortzen, with 46 and 43 points respectively. Further down, Uni Bilbo holds the fifth position with 39 points.
To find Geurea RT's opponent this weekend, one must look further down the standings, as Durango is in seventh place with 29 points, tied with the Loratzen 12 team. After winning their previous two matches, the team from Bizkaia suffered a defeat last weekend against La Unica. Therefore, Geurea RT is considered the clear favorite for Saturday's encounter.
This will be the penultimate match of the qualification phase, with the final game scheduled for the weekend of May 10, on Loratzen 12's home ground. To maintain their second position, the players will need to win at least one of these two remaining fixtures.
The men's Basque League 1st division qualification phase also concluded last weekend. Kanpanzar Arrasate is currently in third place, despite losing their last match in Elorrio. Getxo still has a pending match against Atletiko San Sebastian, and if they win and secure a bonus point, they could overtake Kanpanzar Arrasate in the standings.
In that scenario, as the fourth-placed team, Kanpanzar Arrasate would face the current first-placed team, Elorrio, in the promotion phase. Elorrio has declined direct promotion after winning the championship due to not meeting certain requirements set by the Spanish Rugby Federation for playing in Division de Honor B. Consequently, Elorrio will play a playoff against the three teams ranked behind them: Uni Bilbo, Kanpanzar Arrasate, and Getxo. The playoffs are scheduled for the weekends of May 9 and 16, with the return legs played at the home grounds of the 1st and 2nd placed teams, namely Elorrio and Uni Bilbo. Thus, the only certainty is that the players will play their return match away from home, either in San Roke or El Fango. If Getxo does not secure the aforementioned bonus point against Atletiko San Sebastian, Uni Bilbo would be Kanpanzar Arrasate's opponent in the playoff.
