The Euskal Jaia Cesta Punta Championship has commenced in Durango, marking the start of one of the most comprehensive amateur competitions for young talents aged between 15 and 17.

The tournament's inaugural day took place last weekend, with promising young players aiming to advance to the next preliminary round. This knockout stage will determine the qualifiers for the semifinals of this initial phase.
To progress, pairs must secure multiple victories in a demanding competition format. On Saturday, Denis–I. Alonso (Berriatua–Gasteiz), Haitz–Oinatz G. (Gernika–Markina), Gamarra V.–Kirmen E. (Berriozar–Markina), and Txanton–Belar (Markina–Durango) qualified. On Sunday, in the same elimination phase, Luken–Alonso (Berriatua–Gasteiz), Lekue–Lizarraga (Berriatua–Tolosa), Mikel Urretabizkaia–Izei Garita (Durango–Mutriku), and Alain–Ontoria (Gernika–Noain) secured their spots.
The next match day will be held at the Ezkurdi Jaia Alaia fronton on Saturday at 5:30 PM and Sunday at 10:30 AM, with free admission until full capacity. Organizers have encouraged the public to attend and enjoy the talent of these young pelota players.
