The Durango City Council has set two deadlines for the commencement of the renovation works at the Plateruena cultural venue: the municipality aims for the project to be "ready" by the end of the year, with construction anticipated to begin "in early 2027".
The intention is to "recover and optimize" the venue to adapt its capacity for different types of events. Additionally, supplementary spaces for music creation, presentations, and forums will be established. The council has also specified that the ground floor will feature a kitchen and a bar.
The budget for drafting the entire project has been quantified at 82,644 euros.
Interested companies have until June 19 to submit their proposals.
The initial plan, announced in April 2025, projected the start of renovation works for December of that year, immediately after the Durangoko Azoka. However, the works have been delayed. Nevertheless, the council remains committed to its original ambition of transforming Plateruena into a "reference center" for culture and music, providing a "modern, safe, and accessible" infrastructure for both citizens and participating artists.
