The PNV has praised the steps taken by the Basque Government for the new Tolosaldea hospital. The Jeltzale party recalled that "Lehendakari Urkullu, in his time, and the current Lehendakari Pradales have publicly stated their commitment to this strategic project for Tolosa and Tolosaldea". It also emphasized that Alberto Martinez, the Health Minister, has visited the municipality several times and that progress has been significant.
Osakidetza has approved the hospital's functional plan and the drafting of the construction project, and has guaranteed the necessary funding. "The construction of the hospital responds to a historic objective of the region: to have a healthcare center fully integrated into Osakidetza, directly managed by the Basque public health system and connected to the most advanced healthcare networks in Girona and the Donostia University Hospital", they stated.
It was announced that the hospital will have a broad portfolio of services, thus ensuring comprehensive, accessible, and quality healthcare. "It will have 50 outpatient consultations, three minor surgery operating rooms, and medical specialties (cardiology, neurology, gynecology, traumatology, or internal medicine, among others). It will also feature a modern diagnostic imaging service, including magnetic resonance imaging, CT scans, ultrasounds, and conventional radiology. The facilities will also house four operating rooms, an endoscopy unit, a medical day hospital, a laboratory, a pharmacy, rehabilitation services, home hospitalization, and an emergency base", they detailed.
It was recalled that the hospital will have 90 beds and will include an emergency service with areas for triage, consultations, observation, and resuscitation.
It is stated that the vast majority of citizens have welcomed the project with satisfaction, "as it responds to a deeply rooted demand", and the stance of EH Bildu has been criticized. "When it seemed that the project was moving forward according to the general interest, EH Bildu appears with an unexpected change of attitude. Now they question what they defended until now. What they considered progress, today seems not to serve them", they denounced.
According to the PNV, some mayors in the region have begun to refer to the future Tolosa Public Hospital as a mere socio-sanitary center. "The words used always have an intention behind them. When the construction and public financing of the project are guaranteed, they once again opt for confrontation. It seems that the objective is to keep open a debate that was already channeled, and to turn an important issue like health into a tool for political and electoral desgaste", they added.
It has been pointed out that it is paradoxical that the closer they are to resolving a historical demand of Tolosa and Tolosaldea, "the more some try to fuel the conflict". "The closer the solution is, the more comfortable certain sectors feel in constant controversy", they indicated.
It has been warned that EH Bildu has launched a campaign to undermine the future hospital, resorting to terms not found in official documentation and creating unfounded doubts about the future of the Tolosa outpatient clinic. "The objective seems clear: to generate uncertainty and mistrust among citizens. The most worrying thing is that this strategy could harm Tolosa and the entire region", they warned.
It has been stated that this is a historic opportunity for Tolosaldea to have a modern public hospital, and that the commitment of the PNV of Tolosa is firm. "Faced with those who try to block or delay this project, we will continue working hand in hand with Osakidetza so that the new public hospital of Tolosa becomes a reality as soon as possible", they concluded.
