“"The update of the fiscal ordinances responds to the need to guarantee the sustainability of municipal public services in a context of rising costs. The Council has opted for a general update of 4%, below the price evolution, preventing the increase in taxes and fees from exceeding the cost of living. From a progressive perspective, maintaining quality public services also requires ensuring sufficient and stable municipal revenues. Municipal taxation must allow for the financing of essential public services such as social services, culture, sports, cleaning, maintenance of public spaces, or housing policies."

The Elorrio Town Council has approved its fiscal ordinances for 2027 in a municipal plenary session, with votes in favor from EH Bildu and PNV, and against from Podemos. These ordinances update municipal taxes and fees, ensuring the financial sustainability of public services.
The general update for taxes and fees will be 4%, below September's CPI of 5%, aiming to preserve the funding capacity of public services without placing an undue burden on citizens. The proposal incorporates two contributions from the PNV: a 99% reduction on property tax (IBI) for properties leased for empty housing programs, and a 50% reduction on construction tax (ICIO) for installing electric vehicle charging points.
Additionally, a new municipal tourist tax, linked to overnight stays and adapted to the evolution of tourism activity in the municipality, has been approved.
The new fiscal ordinances will come into effect on January 1, 2027.
