Mireia Elkoroiribe, the incumbent mayor of Durango, has been re-selected as the PNV candidate for the 2027 municipal elections, aiming to continue driving key projects for the town.
The PNV party in Durango has confirmed Mireia Elkoroiribe, the current mayor, as its candidate for the municipal elections scheduled for May 2027. Her objective is to retain leadership and continue advancing projects such as the regeneration of railway lands, the establishment of a high-resolution health center, and a new senior citizens' facility in Saibi.
At 50 years old, the mayor boasts a distinguished professional background, having served as president of the Durangaldea Commonwealth and gaining experience within the Basque Government. Her roles included Director of Transport, advisor for External Relations in the Department of Education, Culture, and Linguistic Policy, and chief of staff for the Health Minister. She also worked in the private sector, founding a company and managing a bar.

"I am running to continue promoting the projects already underway during this legislature, such as the recovery of railway land, the high-resolution health center, Tabira Kirolgunea, the comprehensive rehabilitation of the Market, a new senior center in Saibi, and the housing plan, all fundamental projects for the development and well-being of the municipality."
Elkoroiribe received the mayoral staff in June 2023, succeeding the previous mayor. She holds a degree in Advertising, Public Relations, and Marketing from London Metropolitan University, a master's in Internal Communication from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, and a diploma in Tourism from the University of Deusto. Her fluency in Basque, Spanish, English, and French enhances her ability to manage and represent Durango both locally and internationally.

"We need time to move forward with projects that will transform the municipality into a regional benchmark. In my third candidacy to lead the party, there is still much work to be done, and I am firmly committed to continuing to improve the quality of life for residents with dedication, enthusiasm, trust, and closeness."
