“"The Durangoko Merkatua must be a lively and dynamic space, generating activity throughout the year and attracting citizens. Revitalization is fundamental to making it a true meeting point, strengthening local commerce, and giving greater visibility to our local products. Only then will we achieve the market being an economic engine and a reflection of Durango's identity."

The Durango Market will host a diverse program of gastronomic activities throughout April, aiming to foster culinary knowledge, highlight local products, and encourage community participation.
As part of this program, various training and informative proposals will take place on Thursdays at 6:00 PM, starting on April 16. The first session will be a practical cooking workshop focused on chicken butchering and utilization, designed to teach useful daily techniques. Following this, on April 23, an Euskal Sagardoa tasting will be held, offering the opportunity to learn about and sample Basque cider.
To conclude the month, on April 30, the session “From Grain to Bread” will be conducted as part of the “Getting to Know the Producer” workshop, exploring the process from raw material to bread making. Additionally, the program includes activities on Saturday mornings. On April 25, a show cooking event dedicated to edible wild plants will demonstrate their culinary possibilities.
Mireia Elkoroiribe, the Mayor of Durango, has emphasized the need to boost the market's dynamism as a key element of the project. These new activities aim to revitalize the space, which will soon welcome three new stalls: an ice cream parlor, a bakery, and a craft shop, complementing the current offerings of the renovated space from last year.
