In honor of Berriz's patron saint, Our Lady of the Assumption, the Irrintzi dance group and the Antxinako Ama txistularis held their traditional sword dance and aurresku performance. The event commenced before the main religious service and concluded in the town square.
The procession began from the area below the town hall, where dancers, musicians, and municipal authorities gathered. They proceeded to the parish church, and at the sound of the bells at 11:00, they performed the Ezpata-dantza prior to the main mass, accompanied by the txistularis.
Following the service, they retraced their steps to Euskadi Square for another performance. Although a sudden downpour caught them en route, the rain stopped just as they began to dance, and the dry weather continued until the end of the final act.
In the square, the audience witnessed the Ezpata-dantza, followed by the Aurresku, and finally, the fandango and arin-arin. A large crowd gathered to watch the dance exhibition.
This year's Ezpata-dantza was led by captains Adur Garmendia, Nahia Tubia, Nahia Alustiza, and Malen Larrañaga. The dancers in the line included Elena Urteaga, Miren Hernandez, Eneritz Mendia, Jon Calzada, Sara Aztiria, Izaro Baztarrika, Intza Larrañaga, Itxaso Zurutuza, Saioa Telleria, and Irati Marin. In the aurresku, Adur Garmendia danced for his brother Aratz, and Naia Tubia for a friend of her grandmother.
After the dance event concluded, both the dancers and the txistularis celebrated the festive day.
