Alain Prieto, a member of Abadiño Xake Taldea, has been crowned the Biscay rapid chess champion in a competition held in Durango's San Fausto neighborhood, which attracted 160 chess players.

The Biscay rapid chess championship, held in Durango's San Fausto neighborhood, saw a tight competition between Alain Prieto and Rodrigo Sarralde. Both players finished the day with ten points each, but Prieto prevailed due to tie-breaking criteria, securing this year's championship title. Sarralde, in turn, became the runner-up.
Two other chess players from the region also achieved notable results. Aitor Bravo, from Elorrio's Zaldi Baltza team, secured fifth place, while Unai Calvo, from Abadiño Xake Taldea, finished tenth. The tournament gathered a total of 160 participants, showcasing the high level of chess in the region.
Following the success of the individual event, organizers are now looking forward to the team championship. On Saturday, April 25, at 4:00 PM, the Biscay rapid team chess championship will take place at the Plateruena cultural center in Durango. The event is organized by the Biscay Chess Federation, with the support of the Durango City Council and the Larrasoloeta Xake Kluba.
