The Abadiño Town Council has launched a tender for the repair and improvement of the access road to Atxarte, a vital route for the municipality, with a budget of 291,523 euros and an estimated execution period of four months.

This initiative aims to rehabilitate a road located next to the Atxarte quarry, which serves as one of the main entry points to the town. The road has been significantly deteriorated for years, particularly due to a landslide that damaged both the road surface and the water drainage system.
This situation has led to a progressive worsening of the road's condition, which experiences constant traffic from both vehicles and pedestrians, especially those visiting Atxarte for sports and mountain activities.
The project outlines a comprehensive intervention on the road. Firstly, the pavement will be completely renewed to ensure a suitable and safe surface for circulation. Secondly, the drainage system will be substantially improved to prevent water accumulation that could exacerbate road deterioration. Additionally, slope stabilization works will be carried out in the most sensitive areas, reducing the risk of further landslides and enhancing overall safety.
Another key aspect of the intervention will be the incorporation of specific safety measures at points where vehicle and pedestrian traffic converge. Given the high recreational use of the Atxarte access, the Town Council intends to foster coexistence between both types of users and minimize potential risk situations.
