The Basque Government has approved a 300,000 euro grant program to support the organization of high-level sports competitions in Euskadi, as decided during the Government Council meeting.

The call aims to promote international events included in the official calendars of International Federations, European Federations, or Professional Leagues. Sports exhibitions or shows that do not meet this international scope are excluded from the funding.
To qualify, competitions must feature athletes from at least two countries. World-level events require participation from two or more continents, while league or circuit formats must be organized across two or more different countries.
Specific criteria apply to sports such as tennis, covering events from the ATP or the International Federation for Adapted Sport; surfing, including ASP or European Federation events; and boxing, focusing on competitions where official international titles can be won.
The application period will be one month from the publication in the Official Gazette of the Basque Country. In 2025, 35 events were subsidized, including the Zegama-Aizkorri marathon and the Durango-Durango Emakumeen Saria.
