The Durango City Council has presented today the program for the San Fausto festivals in 2026, which will be held from October 10th to 18th. The celebrations will fill the town's streets with music, culture, tradition, sports, and activities for all ages. In total, approximately 169 activities have been scheduled, thanks to the collaboration between the Festival Committee, the council, and various associations, cultural groups, and sports organizations.
"The San Fausto festivals are one of the most important dates in the Durango calendar, a time for us Durangans to go out into the streets, be together, participate, and enjoy the festive atmosphere," stated the mayor, Mireia Elkoroiribe. She emphasized that thanks to the involvement of associations and collectives, these festivals become a broad, diverse, and open celebration for everyone, considering Durango's associative network a "true treasure".
For her part, the festival councilor, Jesica Ruiz, highlighted the aim to strengthen equality in this year's program. "We have sought to promote equality, with a significant presence of women, combining cultural diversity, tradition, and music, as well as shows, family activities, sports proposals, and initiatives promoted in the neighborhoods," she explained. One of the novelties will be the notable presence of female artists, including Leire Martinez, Goxo Txaranga, Lasque fantaBAND, and Aroa Berrozpe, among others.
In the musical sphere, the program includes intergenerational proposals such as Gar, 11 ikusteko jaioak, Sorotan Bele Gogoan, Latzen, Bingo Musikala, 48280, Xiberoots, and Txori Soro Gogoan. Musician Jon Garcia commented that "it is very special for us to be part of the San Fausto program. But even more special is that Durango has the Landako Sotoak. In Durango, we have a space to promote art and culture. And from here, we must express our gratitude. Such spaces are necessary".
In addition to these novelties, the agricultural fair will be reinstated, and the 'Patxikotxu auzoz auzo' initiative will be launched. Arantza Arrazola, coordinator of the San Agustin Kulturgunea, pointed out that there will be eight shows during the seven days of the festival.
The program details various specific activities, such as the mushroom gathering organized by the Errotari Elkarte Mikologikoa on October 3rd, the Durango Duathlon organized by Mugarra Triatloi Taldea, and the "MIGUEL PIEDRA MEMORIALA" Basque Pelota Championship by the Durango Jai Alai Zesta Punta Eskola. On Sunday, October 4th, the Archery Championship organized by Durangoko arkulariak and the Mycology exhibition by the Errotari Mikologia Elkartea will also take place.
On Friday, October 9th, BROKEN BROTHERS BRASS BAND will perform a street parade, and the association INTXAURRE kultur elkartea will launch the txupinazo (opening firecracker). In the evening, concerts by groups FOSIL, MOONSHINERDS, and KATU will be held at the txosnagune.
On Saturday, October 10th, the txupinazo day will be celebrated. In the morning, with the collaboration of the San Fausto Gizarte Zentroa, the 'Patxikotxu auzoz auzo' event will take place. At midday, a descent of cuadrillas with IRULITXA FANFARREA and the txupinazo by SASIKOA KIROL KLUBA in the town hall square. In the afternoon, the association United of Ghana Durango will organize the Ghana festival, and in the evening, concerts by SKAREAGEKASKO, AIMAR Z, and KENE.MP3, as well as a performance by the group LATZEN.
On Sunday, October 11th, with the collaboration of Hiper Eroski Abadiño and Cafés Baqué, the Sukalki (stew) competition will be held. In the afternoon, participatory rural sports organized by the association Auzo Alai elkartea and the Karropoteo Kuirra by the Txosna Batzordea. At 6:00 PM, GOXO TXARANGA will perform a street parade, and in the evening, the GFG -Gazte Foro Gaua- event will feature groups 48280 and XIBEROOTS.
On Monday, October 12th, Children's Day will be celebrated. In the morning, giants and big-heads with the KIETB Bermeoko Erraldoi Txikien Konpartsarekin. In the afternoon, a tortilla competition organized by the San Fausto Gizarte Zentroa and a foam party and chocolate tasting organized by the Murueta Torre Auzo Elkartea. At 5:30 PM, a JENGA championship by TORNEOS DURANGO.
On Tuesday, October 13th, it will be San Fausto Day. In the morning, Durango Irratia will be on air, and the San Fausto Gizarte Zentroa will organize a paella competition. At midday, a singing session with the group EGUNDO i and a magic show by POTX MAGOA. In the afternoon, the company La Enana Naranja will present the show "Kontu kantari 2", and in the evening, a concert by REVIVAL.
On Friday, October 16th, the Durango Pelotazale Kluba will organize PILOTA FEST. In the afternoon, circus workshops by ZIRKUN ZIRKO and a singing session with BENTAZAHARREKO MUTIKO ALAIAK. In the evening, DRAG TXOUA with MARITXU HANKATXU and IGURTZI SERRANO, and a concert by LEIRE MARTÍNEZ.
On Saturday, October 17th, Costume Day will be celebrated. In the morning, children's workshops by the association ASEBIER elkartea and a street parade with trikitixas by the group TXIRI TXIRI. In the afternoon, a solidarity meal cooked by ZIGOR ITURRIETA and a street parade with the fanfarre SUGARRI. In the evening, a concert by the ALASKA ON TOUR ORKESTRA.
On Sunday, October 18th, the finals of the XIV San Fausto padel championship for women and men will take place. In the morning, archery organized by Durangoko Arkulariak. At midday, a singing session with TABERNA IBILTARIArekin and mariachis with the group RUMBO A TIJUANA. The festivals will conclude with fireworks.
Finally, on October 24th, the Silboberri Txistu Elkartea will offer the Durango Txistu Concert 2026, and on October 25th, the III Durango Mountain March and the Basque Children's Festival organized by Tronperri Dantza Taldea and Txoritxu Alai Dantza Taldea will be held.
