The Usurbil Kirol Elkartea (K.E.) has had a busy start to the week, with notable handball results and the upcoming Beer Festival. The women's cadet teams played two finals: the Cortes Usurbil K.E. A team lost 29-25 against Tolosa CF, but the Bilagun Usurbil K.E. B team secured a 16-23 victory over Amama Taberna Pulpo EK.
In other news, Aitor Santos, the coach of the men's senior first national team, will step down from his position at the end of the 2025-26 season. Usurbil K.E. wishes him good luck in his new career path, while emphasizing that there is still much to fight for to maintain their league status, despite having accumulated enough points.
“"The coach from Pasai Antxo, in this season where the club has returned to the 1st national league, will leave the leadership of the team at the end of the current season."
The Beer Festival, scheduled from April 16th to 19th, will be enlivened with music and sports events. The official opening on April 16th will feature Jon Begiristain Agirre, the future head coach of the Bera Bera handball team. On April 18th, the men's senior team will play against Barakaldo, and in the evening, the Copa del Rey final between Real and Athletic de Madrid will be broadcast on a giant screen.
The festival will operate with a ticket system, accepting both cash and card payments. Attendees can sample five special and two regular beers. On April 16th and 17th, only dinners will be served, while on April 18th and 19th, both lunches and dinners will be available. To ensure the event's success, Usurbil K.E. requires approximately 125 volunteers and encourages community members to assist with tasks such as cooking, bartending, setup, and cleaning.
