The Urnieta City Council has announced the imminent start of works to cover Teresa Amuategi park, which will become the municipality's first covered children's playground, ensuring its year-round use.

The Teresa Amuategi park in Urnieta will soon boast an extensive covered area, transforming it into the municipality's first roofed children's playground. This initiative aims to enable continuous use of the park throughout the year, providing protection from adverse weather conditions.
The construction, expected to take six months, will commence shortly, with the new infrastructure anticipated to be operational before the year's end. The cover will consist of a compact blue polycarbonate structure supported by a metallic frame, designed to shield the main play area from rain and intense sun exposure.

"This action responds to a repeated demand from citizens in various participatory processes conducted in recent years."

The cover will span the main play area and extend to an existing wall at one end of the park. Additionally, a polycarbonate parapet will be installed on the opposite side to minimize lateral rain entry. The project also includes complementary improvements to the park's equipment, such as the installation of six new LED projectors and a complete renovation of the children's area's safety rubber flooring.
The investment for this project exceeds 160,000 euros. The Urnieta City Council emphasized that this work is part of the municipal policy for the progressive improvement of public spaces and the adaptation of urban infrastructure to the new needs of citizens, with the goal of enhancing the quality of life and functionality of the municipality's facilities.
