A San Juan bonfire, which had been banned in Errenteria, caught fire early this morning in the Gaztaño area. Emergency services were deployed to extinguish the flames.

The fire started around 3:00 AM. Firefighters arrived at the scene to put out the blaze, remaining there until after 7:00 AM to ensure the area was safe and the heat had dissipated.
The Errenteria City Council had previously ordered the suspension of all bonfires in the municipality due to safety criteria and weather conditions, in accordance with the Basque Government's LABI framework.
The municipal ban also covered barbecues and similar activities. An investigation into the origin of the fire is currently underway, while the general prohibition on such celebrations remains in effect.
