Patrick Polidori, after 17 years as head coach of Hernani Rugby, has announced his departure from the club, lamenting a "cold farewell" and "certain attitudes" from the organization.

Patrick Polidori announced today in an open letter that he will not continue as head coach of the Hernani Rugby first team. The coach from Lapurdi implies that his departure was not voluntary and regrets the manner in which it occurred, describing it as "cold" and expressing pain over "certain attitudes."
“Sport also fulfills its cycles, and, apparently, mine has come to an end here. However, I cannot hide that I did not expect such a farewell, so cold. These weeks have been very hard for me; separating from Hernani is very painful because I feel the club is my own. But certain attitudes hurt me even more,” Polidori stated.

Hernani has been my family and Landare, my home

The coach from Kanbo, a former player for Aviron Bayonnais and Bera Bera, arrived at Landare in the 2009-10 season when the team was in the second division of Spanish rugby. Polidori had previously been the assistant to Jean-Philippe Bidart at Korsarioak, where he met several Hernani players who recommended his signing.
The club from Gipuzkoa played in the promotion playoff that same season but only achieved promotion to the Honor Division in 2012. Hernani remained in the top flight until the 2019-20 season, when they were relegated by the Spanish Federation due to the pandemic. They regained their place a season later but failed in the playoff.
In the 2024-25 season, the team entered the new Honor Elite Division. In this last campaign, despite a strong start, the team faltered in the second half of the season and lost their final ten matches.
Polidori expressed his gratitude to the fans of Landare: “The world of rugby in Gipuzkoa is small. A door closes, but another will probably open. I hope and wish it to be as fruitful as the one I enjoyed at Hernani. To its people, to the players, to the fans, I thank you for all the support you have given me; I have felt like one of you, very loved, and it is impossible to return all these expressions of affection in these lines. I carry you in my heart too. Eskerrik asko guztioi! We will see each other at Landare. #bultzaHernani”.
