This initiative aims to alleviate parking challenges in the Antxo district, which have worsened recently due to lost spaces from the Topo railway construction. Both parties emphasize that this is a «provisional» solution, and the area's primary use will remain linked to education and children's leisure.
Parking will be permitted only during night hours: 9:00 PM to 8:00 AM in summer and 7:00 PM to 8:00 AM in winter. The same hours will apply on weekends, ensuring the space remains a play area and meeting point during the day.
“"Without collaboration, this measure would not have been possible. We have always been clear that Usoz must remain a recreational and educational space."
Pasaia Mayor Teo Alberro thanked the school for its cooperation, noting that the agreement will pave the way for new play and rest areas, alongside improving parking. The council also commits to a participatory process with the educational community next school year.
“"This agreement responds to a request from families. Through joint work, we have laid the groundwork to more clearly regulate the use, care, and future of this space."
Iker Vidal, the school's director, expressed satisfaction, stating the agreement will clarify usage criteria and maintenance responsibilities, enhancing legal certainty for both parties. It also sets the stage for future courtyard redesign through a participatory process.
Both institutions highlight the agreement's development, which required significant coordination due to the municipal land being currently ceded to the school. The measure will be flexible, allowing for adaptations to meet specific needs of the school, residents, or social activities.
