The municipality of Pasaia will officially commence its festive season on June 20th with an event that will once again gather representatives from the town's four districts. This celebration is designed to reinforce community spirit and mark the beginning of weeks filled with popular festivities.
Saturday's event will take place starting at 12:00 PM in Trintxerpe's Serafín Esnaola square, the chosen venue this year. The celebration will feature a blend of music, dance, tradition, and activities specifically aimed at children and young people.
This initiative, promoted by the Pasaia City Council, is now consolidated after experiences from the past two years and aims to become a common meeting point for the entire municipality before the individual district celebrations begin.
The program will bring together numerous cultural and festive agents from the town, who will jointly participate in a day intended to showcase the associative and cultural richness present in Pasaia.
The joint presence of all these entities will transform the event into a demonstration of the cultural fabric that underpins a significant portion of the popular celebrations held throughout the year.
Prior to the official start, two parades will be organized to escort citizens to Serafín Esnaola square. The first will depart at 11:40 AM from the San Pedro fronton, while the second will leave ten minutes later, at 11:50 AM, from Gernika square. Both routes will converge in Trintxerpe shortly before noon, creating a festive and musical arrival that will signal the start of the celebration.
One of the novelties this year includes the participation of child mayors and mayoresses appointed by the local festival committees. These representatives will accompany the deputy mayors of each district and will play a prominent role during the event. Their duties will include placing the traditional scarves on the giants of Pasaia, as well as contributing to the festive atmosphere that will characterize the day.
Indeed, children and teenagers will have a special focus during the day. Besides participating in the planned musical and entertainment activities, they can enjoy a Holi festival, an event that will once again fill the square with color through the throwing of colored powders. For this reason, the organization recommends attending in a white t-shirt or old clothes to participate in the activity.
With this celebration, Pasaia will officially begin an intense festive calendar that will extend for over a month and cover the different districts of the municipality. The San Juan festivities will open the program on June 23rd and 24th, followed by San Pedro from June 26th to 30th. Later, the Antxo sanfermines will take place from July 3rd to 8th; the Carmen festivities in Trintxerpe from July 15th to 19th; and finally, the santiagos in Donibane, celebrated between July 24th and 31st.
