The municipalities of Errenteria, Lezo, Oiartzun, and Pasaia have submitted a joint technical diagnosis to the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council to reorganize heavy vehicle traffic in the region.

The study, conducted over recent months, identifies approximately 9,000 daily truck movements within Oarsoaldea. Local authorities warn that this volume of traffic significantly impacts road safety, public health, and environmental quality, necessitating a structural response.
The Lanbarren industrial estate is identified as the primary logistics hub, accounting for over a third of all heavy transport movements. Current infrastructure lacks the capacity to separate logistics flows from urban traffic, leading to congestion and safety risks in residential areas.

"The current situation has exceeded the acceptable threshold and traffic problems can no longer be postponed."

Proposed measures include creating a direct connection between Lanbarren and the A-8 motorway, as well as reorganizing the Arragua-Lartzabal junction. The municipalities have proposed an inter-institutional technical committee with the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council to coordinate future infrastructure and mobility decisions.
