The Department of Sustainable Mobility of the Basque Government will offer the public the opportunity to visit the new underground train station in Pasaia from June 15 to 18. This new station is part of the railway variant between Altza and Galtzaraborda, which will become operational on July 18.
Interested individuals can register from today until Monday, June 8. Registration can be done in person, from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, at the Citizen Attention Office of Euskal Trenbide Sarea (Topogunea), located in the lobby of the Amara station. Registration is also possible via email at [topo@ets-rfv.eus](mailto:topo@ets-rfv.eus) or by calling 680564204.
To register, participants must provide their full name, age, place of residence, and contact phone number or email address. The visits will take place on the afternoons of June 15, 16, 17, and 18. Three visits will be conducted daily with limited capacity. Access to the station will be via the fixed stairs. Once the registration period closes, groups will be organized, and the attention office will contact registered individuals to inform them of their visit day and time.
“"We are in the weeks leading up to the commissioning of the variant between Altza and Galtzaraborda, and we want to explain to the public how this project will change their daily lives, not only due to improved train frequencies but also because we will transform the urban landscape of the Antxo district, marked by the viaduct we will demolish thanks to this new infrastructure."
The new underground station is located beneath Gure Zumardia and is part of the underground variant between the stations of Altza (San Sebastián) and Galtzaraborda (Errenteria). Euskal Trenbide Sarea will complete its construction this June, allowing Euskotren trains to begin pre-service tests next month. The station features a mezzanine or underground lobby connecting the two side platforms. The line's route through the Pasaia station is determined by the presence of the Molinao stream and surrounding buildings.
The commissioning of the variant between Altza and Galtzaraborda stations will enable frequencies of 7.5 minutes at all stations between Amara and Pasaia. Previously, this frequency was only available up to Herrera, with 15-minute waits at Altza and Pasaia.
The construction of this two-kilometer section completes the double-track railway variant that extended the Topo line from Herrera to Altza in September 2016.
