The mayor of Lasarte-Oria has presented the updated protocol against sexist violence and the security deployment for the San Pedro Festivities, ensuring they take place in an atmosphere of coexistence and safety.

The mayor has presented the preparatory work for the San Pedro Festivities to ensure they are held in an environment of safety and coexistence. He highlighted the updated protocol against sexist violence and the security measures of the Local Police. The individuals in charge, Equality technician Izaskun Rodriguez and Chief of Local Police Jose Luis Martin, provided the details.
The protocol aims for all individuals, particularly women and gender dissidents, to enjoy the festivities freely. The text, developed in 2023, has been adapted to legislative changes and incorporates points from a document by the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa.
For those who experience an assault, a special attention phone line (688 75 26 03) will be active from June 26th to 29th. A safe room will be set up at the town hall to attend to the victim calmly and with confidence. Local police officers have received specific training and will be local female officers or from the Ertzaintza providing assistance, always prioritizing the victim.
A prevention campaign under the slogan "The festivities are ours, the pleasures are ours" will also be launched. Additionally, the Punto Morado (Purple Point) service will be available at Pablo Mutiozabal street, number 2, on the nights of June 26th to 29th, serving as an information, prevention, and support hub.
The number of local police officers will be increased per shift, especially during night shifts, and they will coordinate with the Ertzaintza and the Red Cross. A special plan, including an evacuation plan, has been prepared for the fireworks display on June 30th.
For activities involving processions or parades, there will be at least two officers. Regarding traffic, the main disruption will be the closure of Kale Nagusia. On Friday, Monday, and Tuesday, closures will be staggered, while on Saturday and Sunday, it will be closed for 24 hours.
Furthermore, the bus service will be reinforced on the nights of June 28th to 29th, and Mantxangorri will offer a night service with three different routes. The daily cleaning service will also be enhanced, using a tanker truck for street washing.
The municipal brigade will also play a significant role during the festivities, organizing events and ensuring necessary infrastructure. Improved interdepartmental coordination has been emphasized, and citizens are urged to respect the instructions of municipal workers and the Local Police, and to help keep the areas clean.
