The Madalenas festivities in Errenteria did not disappoint, with the main day providing an exceptional atmosphere for all attendees. In the morning, the image of María Magdalena was carried in procession from the basilica to the church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, gathering numerous residents at the hermitage's exit. Accompanied by the sound of the txistu, the Banda de Errenteria and a retinue escorted the figure to the church, where the main mass was celebrated.
Nearby, an exhibition of herri kirolak (traditional Basque rural sports) took place. The aizkolaris (log choppers) Julen Alberdi 'Txikia', Mikel Larrañaga, and Iker Vicente, along with stone lifters Jokin Eizmendi, Imanol Royo 'Lartain', Jon Unanue 'Goenatxo', Elene Ostolaza, Udane Ostolaza, and Estefanía Etxebeste, showcased their strength and skill to an enthusiastic audience.
At midday, the Banda de Música (Music Band) performed a concert in the plaza de los Fueros, conducted by Aitor Mitxelena. During the performance, the giants Xanti eta Maialen appeared and danced to the tunes of well-known folk songs, such as the Diana, getting the audience moving.
The afternoon also featured continued activities. Panier hosted the Bertso Saioa (bertsolaris recital), while pelota (Basque ball game) fans enjoyed the finals of the XXX Memorial José Antonio Zuloaga. Afterwards, the first children's tamborradas took to the streets under a radiant sun, demonstrating great rhythm.
