The Basque Government's Council of Ministers has approved the call for scholarships to pursue nautical-fishing studies during the 2025-2026 academic year. These grants are aimed at students from the CIFP Blas de Lezo LHII in Pasaia, the CIFP Náutico Pesquera in Bermeo, and the Escuela de Formación Profesional Náutico Pesquera Nuestra Señora de la Antigua in Ondarroa.
The initiative, promoted by the Department of Food, Rural Development, Agriculture, and Fisheries, has a total budget of 132,076 euros. Its objective is to facilitate access, permanence, and continuity for students in training considered strategic for the future of the Basque maritime-fishing sector.
The aid can amount to a maximum of 2,404.05 euros per beneficiary and will be used to cover study-related expenses, such as accommodation away from home, travel to the training center, maintenance, and material acquisition.
Individuals enrolled in one of the nautical-fishing training centers in Euskadi who meet the requirements established by the regulatory order may apply for these scholarships.
The application period will be one month from the day following the publication of the call in the Official Gazette of the Basque Country. Applications can be processed both in person and electronically through the Basque Government's electronic headquarters.
Through this initiative, the Basque Government reinforces its support for specialized training related to the sea and fishing, contributing to ensuring the professional qualification, generational renewal, and continuity of an activity with strong economic, social, and cultural roots on the Basque coast.
