The Euskal Herria Bizirik network presented the manifesto Lurraren defentsa: larrialdi ekologikoa gainditzeko ezinbesteko borroka on Monday, April 27, 2026, with the support of over 50 organizations, and has announced a mobilization in Vitoria-Gasteiz.

This manifesto, promoted by the Euskal Herria Bizirik network, criticizes the model of green industrialization and reaffirms the commitment to defending the land. The signatories, including associations against the High-Speed Train (TAV) and wind power projects, emphasize the ecological emergency stemming from industrial agriculture and the massive use of fossil fuels.

"The profound changes we are causing in the ecosystems, essential for human survival, have led us to the ecological emergency we are currently experiencing."

The document indicates that seven of the nine biophysical boundaries of planet Earth are already outside the safe zone, as a consequence of humanity's relationship with the natural environment. They also highlight that industrial agriculture has caused the alteration of the nitrogen and phosphorus cycle, desertification, loss of biodiversity, and serious problems in freshwater availability.
The organizations warn that fossil fuels are essential to maintain current levels of production and consumption, and that overcoming the ecological emergency is not enough by merely changing the current energy matrix if production and consumption models are not questioned.

"They have tried to embrace the urgency of the climate crisis with slogans like the Green New Deal, emphasizing the need to carry out a 'green industrialization'. Thus, they have limited the ecological emergency to the climate crisis, with the aim of achieving social peace and activating a market niche."

In this context, they place several macro-projects such as biomethanization plants, data centers, the TAV, Petronor's electrolyzer, the Olazti incinerator, and the Gatika electrical interconnection, all based on the logic of economic profit, disregarding social welfare.
Finally, the Euskal Herria Bizirik network has called on citizens to participate in the No to Macro-projects! mobilization to be held on May 23 in Vitoria-Gasteiz. The protest aims to advocate for the defense of the land and to stop the destruction of natural environments and rural areas promoted by institutions and large corporations.
