The PNV is demanding the immediate activation of the tender process for the new DBH institute in Astigarraga, urging the Basque Government and City Council, while criticizing EH Bildu's stance.

The PNV in Astigarraga has presented a motion in the municipal plenary session demanding that the tender process for the works of the future DBH institute «be activated as soon as possible». The jeltzale group has denounced what it considers «political and partisan use» of this project by EH Bildu.
The party recalls that its position has always been clear: «Astigarraga needs the DBH and the PNV has always worked to make it a reality». They add that the current progress is not due to improvisation but to a commitment to public education that began years ago, first with vocational training (LH) and now with the compulsory secondary education (DBH).
The project had to be adapted to a plot with significant technical and geological constraints, requiring the planning of excavations, complex foundations, and earth movements, which also increased the initially projected cost. Despite this, the project has continued to advance administratively and technically, and the execution project is now complete, with the file in the contracting phase.
The PNV considers the attitude of the mayor and EH Bildu in recent weeks to be particularly serious. «The mayor has lied to the citizens, promising dates that were not his to announce and generating false expectations. One cannot play politically with an issue so important to so many families».
Furthermore, the jeltzale group denounces the «institutional disloyalty shown by EH Bildu» and criticizes the use of the parents' association to fuel a political confrontation strategy against other institutions. «EH Bildu has preferred noise and demagoguery over working responsibly and rigorously».
The PNV also recalls that it was precisely this party that unblocked the project by seeking a viable plot to make the DBH possible in Astigarraga. «While EH Bildu insisted on a location with significant geological and technical problems, the PNV worked to find a realistic alternative that would allow the project to move forward».
The municipal group believes that the important thing now is to leave political confrontation behind, strengthen institutional coordination, and definitively accelerate the procedures so that the works can begin as soon as possible. Each administration must commit to its responsibilities to expedite the project: the Basque Government, the City Council, and other involved institutions. «Astigarraga does not need photomontages or propaganda campaigns. It needs rigorous information, institutional seriousness, and for the project to advance».
Therefore, the PNV has brought a proposal to the plenary session to demand the immediate activation of the tendering process, a commitment shared by the Department of Education, and for the City Council to also commit to expediting all necessary municipal procedures and licenses once the project is awarded.
According to the jeltzale group, «unfortunately, EH Bildu has rejected the proposal and once again shown a lack of vision. Faced with those who use this issue for partisan politics, the PNV will continue to work responsibly to make the DBH a reality. Because this project does not belong to any party: it belongs to Astigarraga and its families».
