The poster by José Luis Pulido Calvo, titled 'Zalaparta', has been chosen to announce the 2026 Santio Jaiak in Astigarraga. A total of 12 proposals were submitted to the City Council's Culture Department for the festival announcement. After deliberation and voting by the festival committee members, Pulido Calvo's design was selected. The poster will be used in the festival program and promotional materials.
The poster is a large visual mosaic that combines the most representative elements of Astigarraga's culture and celebrations. It features local music, dance, parades, giants and big-heads, popular tradition, sports, public participation, and references to emblematic architecture, forming a single choral scene that reflects the communal character of the festival. The use of bright, contrasting colors enhances the joy, energy, and popular spirit of the festivities, conveying an approachable image rich in local identity.
In other news, Pelotari street will remain closed until Friday to complete the final asphalt and painting works. The first phase was carried out in March, and now, to finish the street's construction, the section from Zubitxo greengrocer to Eroski will be completed. Once these tasks are done, the works on the cycle path section of Pelotari street will be considered finished.
