Errenteria will host a new edition of the Azo!ka artisan fair at Merkatuzar from May 1st to 3rd, resuming a tradition initiated by Ereintza Elkartea over four decades ago.

The Merkatuzar venue in Errenteria will host a new artisan fair, Azo!ka, from May 1st to 3rd. This project aims to revive and promote the local craft tradition, continuing an initiative that Ereintza Elkartea launched more than four decades ago. The fair is the result of collaboration between the Errenteria City Council, the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council, and Ereintza Elkartea itself.
During the presentation, Mayor Aizpea Otaegi emphasized that the previous 39 editions, driven by Ereintza Elkartea, transformed the municipality into a benchmark for craftsmanship in Euskal Herria. For this reason, this edition will be considered the fortieth. Jone Idiazabal, from Ereintza Elkartea, expressed her satisfaction with the fair's revival, recalling that over the years, hundreds of artisans have passed through, not only showcasing their work but also transmitting a “fundamental heritage.” Idiazabal thanked the City Council and the Provincial Council for their willingness to “recover this initiative.”

"The 39 editions promoted by Ereintza turned the municipality into a benchmark for craftsmanship in Euskal Herria."

The Azo!ka project incorporates a contemporary perspective, understanding craftsmanship as a living, participatory, and constantly renewing experience, as explained by Esti Susperregi, director of Agustinak Zentroa. In this context, a professional meeting will take place on April 30th at Agustinak Zentroa, conceived as a space for reflection and dialogue. It will feature experts such as Manuel Martínez Torán, professor at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Idoia Cuesta, and Aitor Martínez. Registrations to attend these presentations can be made through the herribizia.eus website.
Regarding the fair, it will begin on May 1st at 4:30 PM. On Saturday, May 2nd, it will open its doors at 11:00 AM and remain open until 8:30 PM. In addition to sales stalls, there will be workshops and demonstrations. Registrations for the workshops can be made starting from Friday, April 17th, on the sarrerak.errenteria.eus website. Finally, on May 3rd, activities will take place from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Additionally, as a complementary activity, an exhibition of posters and images from the Euskal Herria Craft Fair organized by Ereintza Elkartea will be open from April 20th to May 3rd at Xenpelar Etxea and Foru plaza.
