The party Sortu has organized an event for next Sunday, the 27th, in Errenteria's Plaza Foral, starting at 12:00 PM. The event will have the slogan 'Let's break the ties!' and has been organized to commemorate the 51st anniversary of the execution of Txiki Juan Paredes Manot and Angel Otaegi Etxeberria.
This year marks 51 years since the Franco regime executed both members. In commemoration of this anniversary, Sortu has organized events in more than 50 towns across Euskal Herria, and the one in Errenteria-Oreretako will be one of them.
According to Sortu, September 27th is a day of remembrance for the National Liberation Movement, but also "a day to reaffirm ourselves in the struggle for liberation and to look to the future." The party has stated that they live this day every year "filled with memory and demands".
The group has highlighted that the anniversary of Txiki and Otaegi's executions is a day that unites "members and generations", and that "what unites us on September 27th is being a community that fought, is fighting, and will fight for the freedom of Euskal Herria".
The image for this year's poster was created by Mikel Erkiaga from Bilbao, who "based it on the technique of fragmented memory, combining photographs, landscapes, and symbolic elements".
