The senior clubs of Errenteria have once again demonstrated that age is just a number, enthusiastically presenting their activity program for the 2026-2027 academic year. The eight clubs in the town will once again be the hub for a wide array of initiatives.
Mayor Aizpea Otaegi and social services councilor Naroa Zabala, accompanied by representatives from the eight clubs, attended the event. The presentation took place on a bright, sunny morning, filled with smiles anticipating the course's start. The San Agustín, Arramendipe, Bienvenido, Laguntasuna, El Parque, San José, Beti Bizkor, and La Magdalena clubs are set to buzz with activity.
As highlighted by the club representatives, the activities will focus on both physical and mental exercise. Offerings include gymnastics, tai chi, pilates, flamenco, and Basque dance classes. Additionally, there will be workshops for cognitive stimulation, reading, memory enhancement, and a 'develop your brain' activity. Seniors can also learn Euskera and English, alongside computer classes aimed at bridging the digital divide.
As a new feature, and part of the municipal strategy against loneliness, new proposals arising from the seniors' own demands will be incorporated alongside the clubs' offerings. These include 'Healthy Walks,' 'Easy Reading,' and 'Coffee and Conversation.' Further information will be released soon.
“"An impressive figure"
The mayor and councilor praised the program. Otaegi emphasized the significance of the senior clubs, boasting 3,400 members, "an impressive figure that reflects all the activity." These spaces foster socialization and provide many residents with quality leisure opportunities.
Following the presentation, music filled the Beti Bizkor senior club. The group Eguzkilore recited verses celebrating the contributions of older adults.
