Rehabilitation works at the old Sancti Spiritus University in Oñati have reached their midpoint, with the project set to restore the building's original facade before its public opening later this year.

Restoration efforts at the Sancti Spiritus University in Oñati are progressing steadily. Representatives from the Gipuzkoa General Assemblies and the Oñati City Council confirmed that the Renaissance facade will be returned to its original appearance using lime mortar.
The project management stated that this decision follows historical research, drawing inspiration from similar monumental restorations in cities like Florence and Valladolid. The intervention aims to enhance the building's heritage value, energy efficiency, and accessibility.
By the end of the year, the Oñati tourism office is expected to relocate to the ground floor, featuring new exhibition spaces and a glass elevator to provide better access to the Renaissance cloister and the plateresque altarpiece.
The project, supported by Next Generation European funding, also includes the reproduction of a warrior sculpture damaged by lightning in 2025, using 3D modeling to ensure an accurate recreation.
