With less than three weeks until the start of the Pentecost festivities in Bergara, a significant new feature has been announced for the traditional descent of Bitorianatxo. The main festival area will be located in the Oxirondo car park, where the iconic character will be welcomed. Bitorianatxo will descend from the Santa Marina bell tower to the stage in front of the Oxirondo market on May 22.
This relocation brings a unique opportunity: 90 citizens will be able to descend by zipline from the bell tower. According to the City Council, this experience will offer the chance to "feel Bitorianatxo's descent firsthand." This activity will take place on May 26. In the morning, from 11:00 to 14:00, young people aged 10 to 16 will be able to participate; in the afternoon, from 17:00 to 20:00, it will be the turn of those over 16. Interested individuals must register before May 17. Should a draw be necessary, it will be held on May 18, at 12:00, in the plenary hall of the town hall.
“"The opportunity to experience Bitorianatxo's descent firsthand will be offered."
The zipline organizers have reminded participants that all activities carry "an inherent risk," and that participants must inform the organizing company in advance of any special physical or psychological conditions. Pregnant individuals must also disclose their condition. Minors will require parental or guardian consent.
Furthermore, the popular Pentecost meal will be held on May 25 at the Espolón, with tickets going on sale on May 4, at 18:00, for 18 euros. Options will include a general, vegan, and celiac menu. The deadline to purchase tickets is May 18, or until sold out. Those with allergies should contact the culture department.
As part of the festive program, the Mokoloblok activity will take place on May 24, at 17:30, starting from Munibe Plaza, for those over 14 years old. Spaces are limited (25 people), and registration must be completed by May 17. Additionally, on May 23 and 24, the escape game The Curse of the Holter Family will be organized at Seminarixo, aimed at children aged 9 to 14, starting at 16:30. Sessions will be 30 minutes long, with a maximum of 10 participants per turn, and registration will be open until May 17.
Finally, the traditional Codfish Competition will be held at the Espolón on May 23. A maximum of 12 pairs can participate, and the registration deadline is May 14. Participants must collect their clay casseroles and diet between May 18 and 20 at the City Council's Culture Service. On the day of the competition, they must arrive by 11:00 and submit their codfish by 12:45. The awards ceremony will be at 13:30, at the Espolón.
