Pantxoa and Peio held a concert in Bergara, within the framework of the San Martín festivities, at the Oxirondo square. A large number of people attended to listen to the popular musical duo and sing their most famous songs. The concert is part of the Azken Dantza tour, named after a song adapted by them and created by Manex Pagola.
Bergara holds a special significance for the duo, as it was the location of their first concert in Hego Euskal Herria in 1971, held at the Irala cinema. They were also close friends of Telesforo Monzon, whose poetry they often set to music.
The concert lasted for an hour and a half.
On stage, they were accompanied by Iñaki Dieguez (accordion), Mixel Ducau (guitar), Dánae Riaño (bass), Gorka Pastor (keyboards), and Josu Erbiti (percussion). During the performance, they played well-known songs such as Itziarren semea, Lepoan hartu eta segi aurrera, Urtxintxak, Bai euskarari, the ikastola anthem Ikastoletako ereserkia, and Kanta aberria, explaining the context of their creation and sharing anecdotes from their career. The audience actively participated by singing along.
The performance began with the song Euskaldun seme and concluded with Azken dantza. Afterwards, Felix Zubia Sanpru, Fernando Otaño, and Jesus Bolibar from Bergara joined them on stage. In the 1970s, when Bolibar and Otaño were students at Elemental, they contacted Pantxoa and Peio to raise funds for a study trip. Otaño still keeps the letters from that time and presented the musicians with a framed replica of them.
The final songs were Bake mina and Batasuna, the latter prompting the audience to stand. Afterwards, many attendees approached the musicians to request photographs, a request Pantxoa and Peio gladly accommodated.
A week prior, on September 9th, they were also in Bergara, at Monzon's house, as guests of Goiena, whose experience was documented in an audiovisual.
