The Oñati Town Hall has once again joined the 'Bertatik Bertara' campaign by the Association of Basque-Speaking Municipalities (UEMA). This initiative seeks to establish Basque within tourism and highlight its importance, encouraging both visitors and service sector employees to use the language.
The council has distributed table tents and dictionaries to local bars, restaurants, and accommodations. Additionally, a promotional spot created by UEMA to inform about the campaign has been integrated into the table tents via a QR code.
The campaign emphasizes that Basque best reflects the identity of Basque-speaking municipalities, alongside local products, landscapes, and the broader offerings.
The table tents and dictionaries list basic words and greetings in Basque, Spanish, Catalan, Galician, French, and English.
This campaign, a joint effort by the Town Hall's Basque Language and Tourism departments, will run until mid-September, encouraging visitors and hospitality staff to embrace the use of Basque.
