The football club Mondra will celebrate its annual Mondra Eguna on May 29th, 30th, and 31st. This event will take place in Arrasate's Plaza del Pueblo (Town Square) and will feature a food stall area, a tribute ceremony, musical performances, and gastronomic offerings.
A few weeks later, on the first weekend of June, the Arrasate Rugby Taldea will organize its 26th Garagardo Azoka (Beer Festival). The overlap of these two events has caused concern within the rugby club, as they have expressed via social media that they believe it could lead to "social and economic saturation," affecting attendees, sponsors, and volunteers alike.
The rugby club explained that at the beginning of February, they requested the Town Council to hold the Garagardo Azoka on the first weekend of June. In March, they learned that Mondragon CF had organized an event for 500 people for the Saturday preceding their festival, and they stated they had not received prior communication.
ART proposed to the Town Council to find another date or location, but the council responded that there were no alternative dates available or suitable spaces. The only communication received from Mondra was regarding the costs of the "Self-Protection Plan," and they never received detailed information about the event.
The rugby club has announced that, once the Garagardo Azoka concludes, the Board of Directors will conduct a "deep reflection" on the events to analyze the viability of future editions.
