Man Arrested in Oñati for Attempted Robbery at a Bar with a Simulated Gun

The Ertzaintza has arrested a 27-year-old man in Oñati for an attempted robbery with intimidation at a bar, where he threatened an employee with a simulated firearm.

The incident occurred on Sunday, shortly after 7:30 PM, when the manager of a bar in Oñati requested the presence of the Ertzaintza after being the victim of an attempted robbery. Patrols from the Deba-Urola police station responded to the scene.
According to the victim's account, she was on the street when a man approached her, demanding her mobile phone. After she refused twice, the man showed her a pistol. Faced with this dangerous situation, the woman ran away and called for help.
At that moment, the victim saw the suspect, realizing she had spoken to someone else, leave in the opposite direction. An Ertzaintza patrol located a man who matched the physical description of the alleged perpetrator.
Upon interception, it was confirmed that he was carrying a pistol concealed between his trousers and waist, which was confiscated. After some verifications, he was arrested for an alleged crime of attempted robbery with intimidation. At the time of his arrest, he displayed an aggressive and agitated attitude towards the patrol. The arrested individual will be brought before a judge once police proceedings are concluded.
